Pet concerns

Is something not quite right?

Pick what you are seeing. We will tell you what it can mean and when to come in.

Itching or scratching

Constant scratching, licking or chewing usually points to allergies, fleas or a skin infection. It rarely clears up on its own.

  • Look for red skin, hair loss or a smell from the ears
  • Note when it started and any new food or products
  • Book a visit if it lasts more than a few days
Book a skin and ear check and we will look for the cause, not just the itch.

Vomiting or diarrhea

One episode in an otherwise bright pet can often be watched. Repeated episodes, blood, or a pet that seems weak needs to be seen.

  • Offer small amounts of water
  • Hold food for a few hours unless your vet advises otherwise
  • Call right away if your pet may have eaten something toxic
Call ahead for a same-day sick visit when the schedule allows.

Limping or stiffness

A sudden limp can be a sprain, a torn nail or something in a paw. Gradual stiffness is often joint-related, especially in older pets.

  • Check paws and nails gently
  • Limit running and jumping
  • Do not give human pain medication
Book an exam if the limp lasts more than a day.

Not eating

Skipping a meal happens. Refusing food for a day or more, especially in cats, can signal something that needs attention.

  • Note any vomiting, lethargy or hiding
  • Check whether water is going down
  • Bring a list of recent food changes
Cats that stop eating should be seen promptly.

Bad breath

Persistent bad breath is usually dental disease, which can be painful even when pets keep eating.

  • Look for red gums or tartar
  • Watch for chewing on one side
  • Dental care can make a real difference to comfort
Book a dental check and we will grade the teeth and talk through options.

FAQ

Questions pet owners ask us

Do you see dogs and cats only?

We see dogs, cats and many small pets. Ask the front desk about your pet before booking and we will make sure the right veterinarian is on your appointment.

Can I get a same-day sick visit?

We hold time for sick pets each day. Call ahead or book online, and we will fit you in when the schedule allows.

Will I know the cost before treatment?

Yes. We go over a written estimate with you and start treatment only after you approve the plan.

What should I bring to the first visit?

Past medical and vaccine records, the food your pet eats, any current medications, and a list of questions.

Do you offer payment options?

We accept major payment methods and can tell you about financing options available to clients at the front desk.
