The short answer
What a $1M a month business can expect
Revenue alone does not set the amount. A $1,000,000 a month distributor with 4% margins has far less room for a payment than a $1,000,000 a month services firm with 20% margins. Reviewers look at profit, cash on hand, existing debt and how the new money produces new cash. The Merchant Fund Express $1M revenue page describes the review at this level.
Structuring a large request
- Split by purpose. A long-life asset, a working capital need and a seasonal swing each deserve their own tool.
- Match term to payback. If a new location takes 14 months to break even, an eight-month schedule will squeeze the whole company.
- Keep one product in reserve. An undrawn line of credit is cheaper protection than borrowing extra cash you do not need yet.
- Watch payment frequency. Monthly payments are easier to plan around than daily debits on a large balance.
Check what your business qualifies for

| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Funding amount | $1,800,000 |
| Fee (2%) | $36,000 |
| Net cash received | $1,764,000 |

If the acquired contracts bring $220,000 a month in revenue at a 25% margin, they add $55,000 a month in profit, which covers most but not all of the payment. The existing business must fund the remaining $33,500 a month, so its own margin has to allow that.
Who fits and who does not
Good candidates have 2+ years of history, current CPA-prepared or well-kept financials, manageable existing debt and a specific project. Poor candidates have revenue that swings sharply quarter to quarter without explanation, overdue taxes, or several stacked advances. For the last group, an MCA refinance review should come first.
Funding brings customers. Is your website ready for them?
When a company absorbs another company's contracts, the acquired clients search the new name right away, so the website should explain the transition and list the combined services before the announcement. Cheap Cheap Websites builds professional sites from $399, and Website Care at $30/month handles hosting, backups and edits as the merger settles.
The full document package
- Six months or more of bank statements for every business account.
- Owner ID, a voided business check and the application.
- Two to three years of business tax returns.
- Year-to-date profit and loss and balance sheet, plus the prior year-end.
- Receivable and payable aging reports.
- A complete debt schedule.
- For an acquisition: the purchase agreement, the target's revenue history and the contracts being bought.
When to wait or go smaller
- If the acquisition terms are still moving, wait for a signed agreement so the request matches the real price.
- If you need $1.8 million but only $900,000 is needed in the first six months, fund in stages.
- If profit is thin, a smaller amount on a longer term may serve you better. See large revenue-based financing for a payment that flexes with sales.
