Your free 5-page website
Hotline hours, a text or chat option you already run, and plain steps for what happens when someone reaches out. No shelter address.
Short, gentle guidance on staying safe online, plus a clear note about clearing browsing history on a shared device.
Counseling, legal advocacy, support groups and children's services, each in a sentence or two without clinical language.
Donations of money or needed items, volunteer training sign-up, and how to host a drive. Buttons point to tools you already use.
Your mission, your service area, your partners, and a contact form that never asks for a survivor's full story.
What your website must do for the people who look for it
The person on your site may be hiding the screen from someone in the next room. In the first 10 seconds they need to know three things: this is a real program, it is confidential, and they can leave the page instantly.
- A visible quick-exit button on every page that jumps to a neutral site.
- Your hotline hours and any text or chat option near the top, not buried.
- Large, calm text that works on a cracked phone screen.
The second group of visitors are friends, family and coworkers who want to help someone else. Give them one page that tells them what to say and where to send the person.
Must-haves and pitfalls for domestic violence programs
Safety decisions come before design decisions. We build with these rules unless you tell us your program needs something different.
- No shelter address. Show a service area or a general city, never a street address for a safe house.
- Browser history. Add a short note on how to clear history or use a private window, placed where it can be found fast.
- No tracking of survivors. Contact forms collect as little as possible. We do not add anything that stores a survivor's story.
- No identifying photos. Use stock or illustrated images, never residents or clients.
- Plain accounts of services. Say what you offer, who it is for, and that it is free to the survivor.
Your fundraising page matters too. Use our donation flow guide to keep the giving path short.
What is free, and what the $30 a month covers
The website build is free for domestic violence programs. It is the same build as our Launch Website, which normally costs $399 one time. That means up to 5 pages, a design made for you, words drafted for you from a short consultation, a mobile-friendly layout, and 10 rounds of revisions.
The only cost is Website Care, $30 a month. It pays for hosting, the HTTPS padlock, backups, weekly checks, A/B testing and small edits. Edits like changing hotline hours or a new support group time are small edits, so you can send them and we handle them. Recurring plans can be canceled anytime.
If you need more than 5 pages, we quote it before any work starts. Nothing is added without your yes.

How people find you on Google and in AI assistants
SEO is built into every site at no extra charge. Each page gets a clear title and description, headings that match what people actually type, and structured data (schema) so Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT understand who you are and where you work.
People type things like "domestic violence help near me", "how to leave an abusive relationship safely" or "legal help for survivors in [your county]". Your pages are written to answer those searches in plain words, with your service area stated clearly. We never publish the location of a shelter, so local details stay general on purpose.
Every site also gets an XML sitemap and fast mobile pages. Your name, service area and hours are written the same way everywhere, which helps search engines trust them. Nobody can promise rankings or traffic. We build the foundation. If you later want fresh pages every month, the optional Monthly SEO add-on starts at $50 a month. It is never required.
Related ideas and next steps for your program
If you also run a thrift store or a children's program, those can share a page rather than become separate sites. A program that works with local congregations may also like our page on housing programs. Browse the full list of free nonprofit websites if your work touches more than one area. Our website checklist is a good read before your consultation.
How to get started
- Fill in the short form on this page.
- A real person reviews it and confirms you are a nonprofit or community group. You do not have to be registered to qualify.
- We hold a consultation. Tell us your safety rules first, and we build around them.
- We write and design the first draft.
- You review it and ask for changes, up to 10 rounds.
- We launch. Small projects can go live in as little as 48 hours.
We work in English and Spanish (se habla espanol). See the full process or browse example sites first. All groups are listed on our free nonprofit websites hub.
