Launching an alumni association site is about making the next reunion, a way to give and a way to stay in touch easy to find. Collecting your events and links first keeps the process short.
How the launch unfolds
Day 1-2: You send events, news, your giving link and volunteer roles, and we confirm the five pages.
Week 1: We build the home page with a reunion banner, then the events, news and give-and-volunteer pages, and share a preview.
Week 2: You review dates and wording, confirm the registration and giving links work, and approve the contact form.
Launch: We test every link on a phone and publish; a 48-hour launch is possible for eligible projects with content ready.
What to gather before you start
- ✓Upcoming events — Dates, locations and registration links for the next year give returning graduates something concrete to act on
- ✓Recent news items — A few warm updates or stories show the community is active and give the site a lived-in feel
- ✓Giving link — One approved donation destination keeps supporters from hunting through menus
- ✓Volunteer roles — Short descriptions of how people can help, like mentoring or planning a class gathering
- ✓Contact details for your team — A role-based address and name for each type of question avoids messages landing in the wrong inbox
The first month after launch
In the first month, send your graduates a short message pointing them to the site and ask for fresh news items from classes. Confirm the next event page is current, update volunteer needs, and check that the giving link still lands where you expect. Add photos from your most recent gathering only where people are comfortable with it.
Mistakes to avoid at launch
- ✓Scattering reunion information — graduates cannot find the date or registration and turnout suffers
- ✓Having no way to update the list — contact information goes stale and mailings bounce
- ✓Leaving out a giving path — willing supporters have nowhere to go and the moment passes
