Launching a rescue site means getting current animals, adoption steps and a way to give in front of visitors on day one. Everything else can be built around those essentials.
How the launch unfolds
Day 1-2: You send current animals, adoption steps, links and foster details, and we confirm the page plan.
Week 1: We build the home page with an adopt button, then the animals, process, foster and donate pages, and send a preview.
Week 2: You review bios, correct anything out of date and confirm every link goes where you expect.
Launch: We test the paths on a phone and publish; a 48-hour launch is possible for eligible projects with content ready.
What to gather before you start
- ✓Animals currently available — Photos, names, ages and short temperament notes for each one, since this is the most visited page
- ✓Adoption steps — A plain walk through from application to bringing the animal home, including any fees you set
- ✓Application or inquiry link — The form or tool you already use, so visitors have a clear way to start
- ✓Foster and volunteer needs — What help you need, how much time it takes and how to sign up
- ✓Donation link — The giving tool you trust, with a short note on what gifts help cover
The first month after launch
In the first month, remove or update animals the same week their status changes. Add fresh photos as new arrivals come in, update foster needs when they shift, and keep event dates correct. Tell volunteers and followers where the site lives so they point people to the right place.
Mistakes to avoid at launch
- ✓Leaving adopted animals listed — visitors fall for pets who are gone and lose trust quickly
- ✓Skipping adoption steps — people assume it is complicated and look elsewhere
- ✓Hiding the donate link — willing supporters cannot find it and give nothing
