Launching an advocacy site is about getting the words right before anything else, because clarity is the whole point. Plan time for plain-language review with people from your own community.
How the launch unfolds
Day 1-2: You send your mission, resources and contact methods, and we plan a plain, uncluttered home page.
Week 1: We build resources, events and get-involved pages in short, clear sections.
Week 2: Your team and community readers review the wording, and we make revisions.
Launch: The site goes live, and a 48-hour launch is possible for eligible projects with content ready.
What to gather before you start
- ✓Mission statement in plain language — One or two short paragraphs that anyone can understand.
- ✓Resource list — The guides and links you want to share, with a short note on who each helps.
- ✓Event information — Dates, places and the access details each event offers.
- ✓Contact methods — Every way you want people to reach you, so no one is shut out.
- ✓Ways to get involved — Volunteer roles and giving options explained simply.
The first month after launch
In the first month, ask a few community members to try the site and tell you where they got stuck, then adjust the wording. Keep event access details current and review your resource links to make sure they still work. Keep announcements short and update the site around awareness months and legislative sessions.
Mistakes to avoid at launch
- ✓Using dense, formal language — readers who need the information most cannot follow it
- ✓Offering only a contact form — some visitors cannot use it and give up
- ✓Posting events without access details — people stay home because they cannot tell if they can attend
