A ministry website launches well when the mission is written in a few honest sentences and the ways to take part are easy to find. Visitors want to know what you do, who you serve and how they can help, often before they read anything else. Gathering program and volunteer details is the main preparation.
How the launch unfolds
Day 1-2: You send the mission wording, program list and links, and we plan the pages with the work first.
Week 1: We draft our work, get involved and updates pages, and you read the wording aloud to check that it sounds like you.
Week 2: We add the giving page and contact form and test every link on a phone.
Launch: We recheck names and dates, publish and verify the links; a 48-hour launch is possible for eligible projects with content ready.
What to gather before you start
- ✓Mission statement in your voice — Two or three plain sentences about the work and who it serves, written by someone inside the ministry
- ✓Program descriptions — Each outreach, class or service with who it is for, when it happens and how to take part
- ✓Volunteer roles — What is needed, the time commitment and who to speak with, so willing people know the next step
- ✓Media to feature — Message recordings, short videos or newsletters you want visitors to find, with permission for each
- ✓Giving link and wording — The donation tool you use and a short sentence on how gifts are used
The first month after launch
In the first month, update the events and news section on a regular rhythm and add photos only where people have agreed. Prepare holiday giving and volunteer notes ahead of those seasons, and keep wording informational. Read the updates section aloud once a month to be sure the tone still matches the work, and retire anything that no longer applies.
Mistakes to avoid at launch
- ✓Opening with insider language — Newcomers do not understand the mission and leave before reading further
- ✓Listing volunteer needs without a contact route — Willing helpers do not know whom to ask and drift away
- ✓Hiding the giving link in a footer — Supporters who want to give cannot find it and the moment passes
