A generic five-page template treats a one-truck drain specialist and a ten-van residential and commercial outfit as if they were the same business. They are not, and their websites should not be either. This guide walks through a plumbing site map one page at a time, notes the decision that shapes each page, and ends with an intake list you can fill in before your first planning conversation.
Use it as a worksheet, and circle the branches that match how you run jobs today, not the business you hope to be in five years.
The annotated site map
Home sits at the top and has one job: show what you fix, where you go and how to reach you, with a tap-to-call button and a request form link visible without scrolling. Below it, the services branch is where plumbing sites differ most: the person with a cold shower and the person with a backed-up basement are asking different questions, so drains and water heaters each need a page.
Next comes the service area branch. If you cover one county, a single page listing the towns with a map is enough. If you travel to several distinct towns and the work differs between them, such as older cast iron lines in one and newer construction in another, separate area pages can say something genuinely different about each. Area pages that only swap the town name are not worth building.
The trust branch holds the about page, real photos of your vans and crew, and your license and insurance facts exactly as you supply them. The action branch is the request form plus a thank-you page that tells people what happens next.
Decisions that change the map
- ✓Do you answer emergency calls — add an emergency page only if someone truly picks up after hours
- ✓Residential, commercial or both — commercial buyers need their own page about scheduling and access
- ✓Do you install or only repair — install pages need brands you carry and what the quote covers
- ✓Do you publish starting prices — a flat-rate page filters inquiries but must stay current
- ✓Do you finance larger jobs — mention it only if the financing provider and terms are real
Pages that are optional, and when they earn a place
A frequently asked questions page earns its place when customers keep asking the same three things, such as whether you charge a trip fee, whether you pull permits and whether you work on weekends. A careers page earns its place when you hire more than once a year. A gallery suits remodel and repipe jobs far better than drain calls.
A blog comes last, after the service pages answer the basics well. See adding service pages for how a services branch grows over time.
Intake checklist: gather these first
- ✓Service list in your own words — what you do most and what you refuse
- ✓Towns and boundaries — where you go, where you charge extra, where you never go
- ✓License and insurance facts — numbers and wording exactly as you want them shown
- ✓Real photos — vans, crew, a recent job site, your logo file
- ✓Form questions — problem type, address, urgency and whether a photo helps
Matching the map to a plan
A plumber who starts with home, one services page, an area page, about and contact fits the Launch Website at $399 for up to 5 pages. Once drains, water heaters, sewer lines and fixture repair each get their own page, plus a page per major town, the map usually lands between ten and twenty pages, which is the range Business Plus at $989 covers. Either way, you approve the copy before launch.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not invent credentials — license and insurance details come only from you
- ✓Emergency wording must be true — we will not label a page 24-hour if nobody answers
- ✓Pages are not a ranking promise — a clear site helps, search results are never certain
