Booking a haircut is a decision with a lot of small questions: how long will it take, who does color, what happens if I am late. A salon site that answers those quietly gets the appointment. One that does not gets a text to a friend asking if they know someone good.
Mistake one: services without time or detail
A list that says "Color" and a price range is not enough. Someone wondering about a balayage wants to know how many hours to set aside, whether a consultation comes first and whether the price depends on length. Give each service a short line with the typical time and what it includes.
If prices depend on the stylist or hair length, say so. A starting-from figure is fine when it is honest. Hiding prices makes people assume the worst.
Booking and stylist mistakes
- ✓Booking button missing on inner pages — put it in the header and at the end of each service
- ✓Stylist choice unclear — show each stylist, what they specialize in and their schedule
- ✓Policies in a footer — late arrival, cancellation and deposits belong before booking
- ✓Booking tool not matched to services — durations in the tool should match the site
Mistake two: portfolio photos without permission
Photos of clients’ hair are your best selling tool and also something to handle carefully. Make sure the client agreed to the image being shown, and that each stylist’s own photos are cleared for use by the salon. A short written note in your records is enough.
Choose fewer, better photos. Six sharp, well-lit before-and-afters beat forty blurry ones.
Check yours tonight
- ✓Book a haircut as a stranger would — how many taps does it take on a small screen
- ✓Read your policies — are late and cancellation terms visible before the final step
- ✓Count the stylists — does the site show everyone currently working
- ✓Compare prices and durations — site, booking tool and printed menu should agree
Mistake three: the site and the booking tool disagree
The site says closed Mondays; the booking tool shows slots. The website lists a service the tool does not offer. People notice, and then they call or leave. Pick one source of truth and align the other. We connect the booking tool you already use, or help set one up with Square for booking and deposits.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We connect your booking tool — we do not replace it or hold deposits
- ✓Tool and processor fees belong to the provider — we do not set them
- ✓We do not promise bookings — a clearer site helps, results vary
