Salon sites usually need a redesign because the services have changed, a stylist left or the look feels old next to a competitor’s. The risk is breaking the booking path your regulars already know. Start by finding out exactly how people book today.
Audit how booking works now
Book an appointment yourself from a small screen and write down every step. Count the taps. Check which services are bookable, whether durations are right and whether the confirmation looks the way you want.
Ask a few regulars how they book: through the site, the tool directly, social or by text. That tells you which links matter most and should not move.
Decide what stays
- ✓Keep — the booking link people already use, service names clients know, photos you have permission for
- ✓Update — prices, durations, team list, policies and hours
- ✓Replace — dark, blurry or outdated images and a menu saved as a picture
- ✓Retire — services no longer offered and stylists who have left
Policies and photo permissions
A redesign is the right time to check policies and permissions. Confirm that late and cancellation terms match what you enforce, and that every portfolio image is one the client and stylist agreed to share. Remove anything you are unsure about.
We carry over the wording you approve and draft anything new from your notes. Nothing goes live until you sign off.
After the switch
- ✓Book a test appointment — through the new site and confirm the calendar receives it
- ✓Check old links — saved bookmarks, social bios and listings should still lead somewhere right
- ✓Compare prices — site, booking tool and printed menu
- ✓Ask a regular to try it — someone who is not on your team
Map every place your old site is linked
Before anything moves, list where your web address appears. Check the bio link on each social account, your business listing on maps, the bottom of appointment reminder texts, gift card envelopes, the window decal and any directory you joined years ago. Each of those points to a page, and some point deep, such as a services page or an old price list.
Copy each linked address into a simple list. That list becomes the forwarding map we build, so a client tapping a link from three years ago still lands on the right page of the new site instead of an error.
Content to refresh while you are at it
- ✓Service names — match what clients actually ask for, not trend names from years ago
- ✓Team bios — rewrite any that mention stylists no longer there or skills that changed
- ✓Home page first screen — today’s services and a book button, nothing else competing
- ✓Gift card and product mentions — update or remove them if you stopped offering them
Time the switch around your calendar
Do not switch the week before prom, the holidays or the start of wedding season, when clients are booking hardest and your team has no time to answer questions. Pick a quieter stretch, tell the front desk the date in advance and give them a one-line answer for anyone who asks why the site looks different. If your booking tool is changing too, move the tool first, let it settle for a couple of weeks, then switch the website.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We rebuild on our hosting — we do not edit inside the old builder
- ✓We connect your booking tool — we do not replace its data
- ✓No promises on bookings or rankings — a redesign helps clarity, outcomes depend on many factors
