Squarespace templates are admired for good reason. They look clean right away, and for a designer, photographer or writer who wants to control every image, that can be exactly right. The question is not whether the templates are good. It is whether you want to be the person filling them in.
Where Squarespace shines
If your site is mostly images and you have a strong eye for them, the template gets out of your way. Portfolios, simple studios and personal brands often fit well. You can rearrange sections, update a gallery and publish when you are ready.
The tradeoff is the effort. A template is a frame, not a finished site. You still write every page, choose every photo crop and decide how forms and email behave.
Questions to ask yourself
- ✓Do I enjoy this kind of work — if not, it will stall
- ✓Do I have words and photos ready — templates look empty without them
- ✓Who will keep it current — sites age fast when nobody owns them
- ✓How will customers reach me — forms and booking links need testing
Where done-for-you fits
We start with a consultation, write the copy, design for mobile and build the pages. The Launch Website is $399 for up to 5 pages, and larger plans cover more pages. You approve it, with ten rounds of revisions included, then we launch.
Your domain stays yours, and Website Care at $30/month covers hosting, HTTPS, backups and small edits so the site does not drift out of date.
Side-by-side differences
- ✓Who writes the copy — you on Squarespace, us on done-for-you
- ✓Who tests the form — you, or us before launch
- ✓Who handles updates — you in the editor, or a monthly allowance
- ✓Design freedom — more hands-on control in the builder
What to expect, honestly
- ✓A template is a fine answer for visual portfolios — stay if that is you
- ✓We build on our hosting, not inside Squarespace — no editor access for you
- ✓Add-on tools carry their own fees — for booking, store or email
One example of what your site could look like
This is one sample we designed. Yours is built around your business, your photos and your words, and we have more examples if you want to compare directions.
What it costs
