What theatergoers search for when a show is coming
Most visitors want a show name, a date and a way to buy a ticket. They are often on a phone, in a hurry, and deciding whether to go this weekend.
- Lead with the current production and its run dates.
- Make the Tickets button the loudest thing on the page.
- Show the curtain time, the running length and any content notes.
- Post the venue address, parking and wheelchair access.
A second audience arrives in audition season: actors and crew looking for call details. Give them their own clear page.
What you get free, and what the $30 covers
The build is free for community theaters. It is the same build as our Launch Website, which normally costs $399 one-time: up to 5 pages, designed for you, words drafted from a short consultation, mobile-friendly layout and 10 revision rounds.
The only cost is Website Care at $30/month. It covers hosting, HTTPS (the padlock in the browser), backups, weekly checks, A/B testing and small edits. Recurring plans can be canceled anytime.
Ticketing and class sign-ups usually already exist. We add buttons and links to the tool you use, and we do not promise any specific integration or payment processing.
If you need more than 5 pages, we quote it before any work starts. A Monthly SEO add-on from $50/month adds new pages each month, but it is never required.
How people find your show on Google and in AI assistants
Each site gets clear page titles and descriptions, headings that match searches, structured data (schema) so Google and AI assistants understand your group, an XML sitemap, fast mobile pages, and your address and hours written consistently.
Typical local searches:
- community theater near me this weekend
- auditions for local musical
- kids theater classes
- things to do tonight with tickets under 25 dollars
The clearer your show page, the easier it is for search tools to quote it. We never promise rankings. Our SEO services page explains the add-on options.

Tell us about your group. A real person reviews it and gets back to you, usually within one business day.
Must-haves and pitfalls for theater sites
Old shows are the usual problem. A homepage that still says tickets are on sale for a closed run costs you trust.
- Update the season page as soon as a show closes.
- Check licensing notes before posting scripts, songs or full photos from a licensed production.
- Get written permission before posting photos of young cast members, and leave out full names.
- Keep cast lists current and spelled right.
Our existing page on websites for community theaters has more layout ideas.
How to get started
- Fill in the short form on this page.
- A real person reviews it and confirms you are a nonprofit or community group.
- We hold a consultation about your season, your venue and your audition process.
- We write the draft site.
- You review it and ask for changes, up to 10 rounds.
- You launch. Small eligible projects can go live in as little as 48 hours.
We work with real people in English and Spanish (se habla espanol). See how it works for the full picture, or browse the free nonprofit websites hub.
