Must-haves and pitfalls for education foundations
- Protect students. Do not publish children's full names or photos without consent. Show classroom projects with permission or without faces.
- Keep district facts accurate. Link to the district for calendars and policies, so nothing on your site contradicts them.
- Be honest about results. Describe what a gift pays for. Do not promise outcomes.
- Separate the foundation from the district. Make clear you are an independent group that supports local schools, so donors know who they are giving to.
If you fund awards for students, scholarship funds have a few more page needs. Parent groups that work alongside you may prefer a PTA site.
What is free, and what the $30 a month covers
The website build is free for school and education foundations. It is the same build as our Launch Website, which normally costs $399 one time. That means up to 5 pages, a design made for you, words drafted for you from a short consultation, a mobile-friendly layout, and 10 rounds of revisions.
The only cost is Website Care, $30 a month. It pays for hosting, the HTTPS padlock, backups, weekly checks, A/B testing and small edits. Posting a new grant deadline or swapping a donate link is a small edit you can send to us. Recurring plans can be canceled anytime.
