A redesign is risky for a cleaning company because the old site often has one or two pages that bring most of the inquiries, and nobody remembers which. Before you touch anything, work through this list. It takes an afternoon and prevents the classic mistake of a prettier site that gets fewer requests.
Step one: find what is working today
Look at your last twenty or thirty inquiries. Where did they say they found you? If you have a request form, check which page they submitted it from. If you do not track it, ask on the next five calls how they found you and write it down.
List the pages that get requests, the pages that show in search results for your town, and any page other sites link to. Those addresses are the ones to protect. If an address must change, plan a redirect so the old link lands on the new equivalent rather than an error.
Keep, change or remove
- ✓Keep — any page that gets requests, any town or service page with its own address, your quote form fields that work
- ✓Change — vague "we do it all" copy, missing service area detail, a form that skips size and frequency
- ✓Remove — duplicate pages, outdated specials, stock photos that say nothing about you
- ✓Add — separate residential and commercial pages, a clearer scope list, real photos
Step two: fix the structure before the style
Colors and fonts are the easy part. The harder part is the path: from the home page, can a visitor see in one screen which kind of cleaning you do, where you work and how to ask for a quote? Walk it on your own mobile and count the taps.
Check that the quote form arrives in your inbox with everything you need to price, and send three test requests yourself. A redesign that looks lovely but sends submissions into a spam folder is the most expensive kind.
Before you go live
- ✓Old addresses mapped — every important old page points to its new home
- ✓Form tested end to end — submissions arrive and you can reply
- ✓Service areas confirmed — the list matches where you really work
- ✓Photos and wording approved — nothing you cannot stand behind
- ✓Backups confirmed — a copy of the old site is saved
Step three: measure the change
Note your inquiry count for the month before and the month after, and give seasonal shifts their due; spring and move-out season are busier than January. We cannot promise any change in rankings or requests, but you will at least know what happened and why.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We rebuild on our hosting — we do not edit inside your old site builder
- ✓Old data is only what you can supply — we do not guarantee recovery
- ✓Rankings can move either way — no result is promised
