A reunion, a memorial, an open house or an anniversary party has a lot of moving parts and a lot of people who want to know the same four things. Where is it? What time? What should I bring? How do I tell you I am coming? A single page replaces dozens of messages, and it works for relatives who are not on any app.
What a one-time site needs
Keep it short. A home page with the date, time and address, a note on parking or travel, a schedule of the day and a simple way to reply is often all there is.
Decide ahead of time whether the event is public or for a defined group. For a private gathering, share the link only with people you invite and think carefully before adding names, photos of others or any detail you would not want a stranger to read.
The essentials
- ✓Date, time and the place — with a map link and parking notes
- ✓A short schedule — when guests arrive and when things happen
- ✓What to bring or wear — so people stop asking
- ✓A reply form — names and numbers attending
- ✓Contact for questions — one person guests can reach
How long it stays up
For a one-time event, decide at the start how long the site should live. Some people keep it for a few weeks after, with photos or thank you notes, and then take it down. A memorial may stay up longer as a place for family to return.
The domain registration and Website Care keep the site running while it is live. If you want it removed afterward, tell us when and we will plan it. If you want to keep it, that is possible too.
Before you publish
- ✓Ask permission for photos — especially of children and guests
- ✓Leave out private details — home addresses beyond what guests need
- ✓Check dates twice — and time zones if people are traveling
- ✓Test the reply form yourself — so replies reach you
What to expect, honestly
- ✓Privacy is mostly your choice — the link can be shared by anyone who has it
- ✓We do not manage guest lists — replies come to you
- ✓Ticketing is through your own tool — we connect it, fees stay with the provider
