Plenty of people put off a website because they think they need a logo and a photo shoot first. You do not. A clear page that says what you do, where you work and how to reach you is worth more than a polished one that never launches. The honest question is what to put in the spaces where a logo and photos would normally sit.
A logo is optional for day one
If you have no logo, we can set your business name as a simple text wordmark in a clean font and color. It reads as intentional, loads instantly and can be swapped for a real logo whenever you have one.
If you already have a logo, even a rough one on a business card or invoice, send whatever file you can find. Do not worry about the format; we can usually work from a quick snapshot of a printed card to build a tidy version for the header.
Ways to fill the picture gap
- ✓Photos you take yourself — natural light, steady hand, a few of real work
- ✓Pictures of your tools, storefront or workspace — they show a real place without staging
- ✓Photos you own the rights to — supplied by you or taken by someone you hired
- ✓Clean typography and color blocks — some pages work best with no photo at all
What we will not do
We do not invent photos of your work. A stock picture of a team that is not yours, or a finished project you never did, would mislead the people reading the page, and it tends to feel generic anyway. We will not present those as yours.
What we can do is use clearly generic, honestly labeled imagery for decorative areas like a page banner, as long as it is not presented as your actual work. Anything showing your results, staff or location should come from you.
A five minute photo list
- ✓Front of the shop, truck or workspace — one wide shot and one close
- ✓Two or three finished jobs or products — before and after if you have them
- ✓You at work — a casual photo of you doing the job beats a posed headshot
- ✓Your tools or materials — a simple close up with good light
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not fabricate your work — images of results must be yours
- ✓A designed logo is a separate job — we can use a simple wordmark meanwhile
- ✓Photo shoots are not included — you supply the images
