The short answer

Mobile detailing booking should collect vehicle size, condition, package, location and parking details, water and power access, and photos, then confirm, remind, and offer a maintenance plan after the job.

What to collect at booking

Vehicle year, make, model and size, the package and add-ons, the condition (pet hair, stains, odors, heavy dirt), photos, the service address, whether the car will be in a driveway, garage or lot, access to water and power if you need them, and preferred time. Ask whether the client will be home or how to access the vehicle and keys.

Weather and rescheduling

Outdoor detailing depends on weather. State your rain and extreme heat policy: you may reschedule exterior work or move to a covered spot, and interior-only work may continue. Send a weather check message the day before. Clients appreciate a proactive reschedule more than a cancellation on arrival.

Sample confirmation

"Hi Jordan, your full detail for the Honda Pilot is booked for Saturday at 9 at your home. Please make sure the car is accessible and remove personal items. We bring our own water and power. If rain is forecast, we'll text you Friday to adjust."

Mistakes

  • Booking without condition photos
  • No weather policy
  • Booking appointments too far apart

Sample reminder message

"Hi Casey, quick reminder: your full detail is tomorrow at 10. Please clear personal items and make sure we can reach the car. Rain is possible, so we'll text by 8 if we need to adjust."

Grouping appointments by area

Drive time is the hidden cost in mobile detailing. Group appointments by neighborhood on set days, so Tuesday is the east side and Thursday is downtown offices, for example. Show available days by area in your booking tool or ask clients to choose from area-specific days. Clients on maintenance plans can be locked into a recurring slot on their area's day. This simple routing habit can add an extra job to each day without longer hours.

Leave buffer time between full details for cleanup, restocking water and unexpected condition issues. Rushing a detail to make the next appointment leads to missed spots and complaints.

Workflow

  1. Booking link with package selection
  2. Location and water access questions
  3. Weather rescheduling policy

How long does a full detail take?

It varies by size and condition; time your own jobs and set booking lengths.

Not necessarily; arrange key handoff and access in advance.

Can clients choose any time?

Offering area-based days keeps drive time down; many clients happily choose from a few options.

Should I require a card on file?

For longer details and coatings, many detailers require a card or deposit to reduce no-shows.
