Detailing reviews highlight transformations and care. Ask when the customer sees the result, reply to every review, and share photos with permission.
When to ask
| Moment | What to say |
|---|---|
| Customer sees the result | Would you share a review? |
| Reply to complaint | Let us come back and fix it. |
Showing results honestly
Before-and-after photos are the strongest trust signal, but they must be honest: same angles, similar light, no heavy filters. For coatings, explain what they do and do not do, and how to maintain them. For interiors, note that some stains may not fully come out. Honest expectations prevent disappointed reviews.
Ask for reviews at handoff when the client sees the result, and send the link by text that day.
Sample review request
"Thanks for booking with us, Sam! If you love how your SUV looks, a quick review with a photo would mean a lot: [link]."
Mistakes
- Overselling coatings
- Edited photos
- Ignoring complaints
Sample review replies
- Five stars: "Thanks, Jordan! That pet hair didn't stand a chance. See you in two weeks for your maintenance wash."
- Mixed: "Thanks for the feedback, Sam. We're sorry the stain on the rear seat didn't fully lift; we'd be glad to come back and try another treatment at no charge."
- Negative: "We're sorry about the late arrival, Alex. We've added on-the-way texts so you'll always know when we're coming. Please call us so we can make it right."
Asking at the right moment
The best time to ask for a review is the handoff, when the client walks around the car and sees the shine or the clean interior. Hand them the keys, show them the before photos on your phone and ask if they'd share a quick review; then text the link while you pack up. Clients who saw the transformation in person write the most detailed reviews.
Reply to every review within a few days, and for any complaint, offer to come back and fix it. Most detailing issues, such as a missed spot or a streak, are easy to correct.
