Some of your customers arrive on a whim on a sunny Saturday. Others book a sunrise tour three weeks ahead for eight people. Treating them the same is the mistake. The site should let walk-up rentals be simple and let groups and guided trips pay a deposit that holds equipment and a guide.
Where a deposit actually earns its keep
A single rental on a quiet weekday barely needs one. A guided tour with a limited number of seats, a group of ten or a sunset outing does, because a no-show leaves boats unused and a guide idle. Putting the deposit only on those bookings keeps the process light for everyone else.
On the site, we make the difference visible: "Rent by the hour: just show up" and "Tours and groups: reserve with a deposit". Visitors sort themselves into the right path.
What goes on a group booking form
- ✓Number of paddlers — and how many are first-timers
- ✓Single or tandem boats — with a short description of each
- ✓Date and put-in time — with tide or water level notes if they matter
- ✓Age range of the group — so you can suggest the right route
Safety, waivers and the weather day
We can place your safety briefing summary and a link to your waiver on the booking page. The wording and the document are your own, and we do not advise on safety or insurance. We make sure the guest sees both before paying.
Weather decisions are yours, and so is the reschedule rule. The deposit goes through your tool or Square, and the provider charges its own fees.
Before launch, settle these
- ✓A group size where deposits begin — for example, six or more
- ✓The deposit per person or per booking — and what it covers
- ✓Water conditions that cancel a tour — stated in plain words
- ✓Where guests meet you — a landmark, not just an address
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not provide waivers or safety training — you supply them
- ✓We do not check water conditions — you decide when tours run
- ✓We cannot guarantee equipment availability — you confirm each reservation
