Soccer registration is bunched into short windows: tryouts in late winter, camps when school lets out. A parent who misses the date because it was in a social post waits a season. A registration page that lists each event by age group, date and field makes sure the right families see the right thing in time.
Parents search by birth year, not by program name
Academies often name groups internally, but a parent thinks "my daughter was born in 2015, where does she go?" Put birth-year or age bands at the top of each event, using the same bands your league uses, so there is no translating.
Beneath that, list the field, the arrival time and what to bring. Shin guards and water are the usual answers, but a sentence about turf versus grass saves a parent from buying the wrong cleats.
What each registration listing includes
- ✓Age or birth-year group — using your league’s own bands
- ✓Date, time and field — with an address link
- ✓What the event is — tryout, evaluation, camp or clinic
- ✓Cost as you set it — and what it covers
- ✓Register button — opening your provider
Tryouts are different from camps
A tryout is an evaluation and may not secure a team spot, so the wording should say so kindly: "Registering holds a place at the evaluation. Team placement is announced after." Camps are a straightforward purchase, so they get a simple seats-and-price listing.
We link or embed your registration provider for each. Rosters, medical forms and payments stay in that provider’s tools; any provider and processor fees belong to them.
Registration season routine
- ✓Four weeks before — publish dates and open the sign-up link
- ✓Two weeks before — post a reminder with the close date
- ✓Week of — confirm fields and update the banner
- ✓After — remove the ended event and show the next date
Waitlists, weather and moved fields
Fields close and schedules shift. Choose one place on the site, a short banner at the top of the events page, for weather and field changes, and tell parents that is where updates live. A single reliable spot beats five group chats.
When a camp fills, change the register button to a waitlist and say how families will be contacted.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not manage rosters — team assignment and communication stay in your tool
- ✓Player photos need parent consent — you decide what to publish
- ✓We do not build parent accounts — families register in your provider
