A deli has a counter regulars who know the menu by heart and a second group who have never been in. The second group are the ones who order platters for a graduation or a retirement party, and they find you on a website. For them, the page has to do the job the counter staff does: explain, suggest and take the order.
The two menus inside one menu
There is the everyday board: sandwiches by the half or whole, salads, sides, soups, deli meats by the pound. And there is the event board: platters, trays and party subs. We keep them separate on the site so a lunch customer is not wading through party sizes and a party host is not hunting for them.
Each platter gets a short description of what is on it, how many people it serves and how much notice you need. Hosts want to size the order themselves.
What a platter listing needs
- ✓Name and contents — meats, cheeses, rolls and condiments
- ✓Serves how many — stated in a simple range
- ✓Lead time — one day, two days
- ✓Pickup or delivery — and any minimum for delivery
Ordering and the practical details
For regular lunch orders, the site links to the ordering tool you already use. For platters, we usually add a short request form so you can confirm the date, headcount and any dietary notes before the order is final. The form goes to the inbox you already read.
Pound orders at the deli case can be listed as a menu, but they are rarely ordered online, so we describe them and let customers pick them up in person or ask in the form. Third-party fees are the provider’s to set.
What you supply
- ✓A text menu — not a scan, so it reads on a mobile device
- ✓Your platter list with serving sizes — a clear line each
- ✓Your hours and parking notes — especially at lunch
- ✓Your order link and delivery area — if you deliver
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not process payment on our site — your own tool does
- ✓Case items are not tracked online — the menu is a guide
- ✓Menu changes are manual — sent to us and updated
