Think about how someone finds a small museum. They are on a weekend trip, the weather turned, and they type the town name and the word museum. The first screen should tell them whether you are open, what it costs and whether children will be bored. A beautifully written history of the building can wait one scroll.
The plan-a-visit block
We build a compact visit section that appears near the top of the home page and again on its own page: days and hours, admission levels you set, parking and access notes and how long a visit usually takes. It is the single most-used part of a museum site.
Seasonal hours and holiday closures belong in a banner, not a footnote. A visitor who drives forty minutes to a locked door seldom returns, and writes the review you do not want.
What the visit page lists
- ✓Hours by day — including seasonal changes
- ✓Admission — adults, seniors, children and members, as you set them
- ✓Accessibility — stairs, elevators and seating, stated plainly
- ✓Parking and transit — where and how far
- ✓Photography and bags — simple rules visitors want to know
Groups, schools and then giving
Teachers and tour organizers plan months ahead. A groups page with capacity, lead time, what you provide and a request form saves hours of email. Seasonal school visits are often your best chance to meet future supporters.
Then ask for support. A monthly membership or giving option explains what it keeps going: exhibit care, volunteer training or free admission days, using only what is true for you. We connect your donation platform, which handles recurring charges and receipts.
Pages to build
- ✓Visit — hours, admission and access
- ✓Exhibits — current and permanent displays
- ✓Groups and schools — requests and guidelines
- ✓Collection or research — how to ask a question
- ✓Support — membership, monthly gifts and volunteering
What to expect, honestly
- ✓Ticketing is handled by your own tool — we link it if you use one
- ✓Collection records are not digitized by us — we publish what you provide
- ✓Gift handling is on your platform — its fees apply
