A mentoring program sells a relationship, which is hard to put on a web page. Three different readers arrive with three different worries. A would-be mentor wonders if they have enough time. A parent wonders who exactly will spend time with their child. A funder wonders how you know it works. Your site should have a short, honest answer for each.
Start with the commitment
Mentor applicants drop out when expectations are vague. State the hours per week, the length of the match, the training and the screening steps in simple terms, even if it feels a little demanding. People who read the real commitment and still apply tend to stay.
Families need to see how matches are made and supervised. A short page covering who the mentors are, how they are trained and what the program does if a match is not working will address most questions before a parent asks.
Protecting young people on the page
- ✓No identifiable photos of youth — use activities, hands or illustrations
- ✓First names only with written consent — and often not at all
- ✓Safety practices described plainly — screening, supervision and reporting
- ✓Clear contact for concerns — a named role, not a general inbox
- ✓No public schedules showing locations — share them after enrollment
Giving that makes the model understandable
A funder or a monthly donor responds to a clear description of what the program does. "A monthly gift supports training and supervision for mentor matches" is concrete and fair. Supply a statement of that kind and we put it beside a recurring giving button connected to your donation platform.
Avoid outcome claims you cannot document. If you have evaluation results, publish them accurately and with the context you would give an auditor. If you do not, describe the model honestly and let people judge.
Pages to build
- ✓Mission and model — why mentoring and how the program works
- ✓Become a mentor — expectations, steps and a short form
- ✓For families — eligibility and how to enroll
- ✓Partners and schools
- ✓Give — monthly, one-time and sponsors
What to expect, honestly
- ✓Enrollment and screening run in your own system — the site routes people to it
- ✓We do not publish outcome claims — only what you supply and can support
- ✓Payment handling is your platform’s — its fees apply
