If you enjoy tinkering and have a free weekend, Wix can be a fine answer. If you would rather spend that time with customers, a done-for-you site lets you hand the work over. Neither one is wrong; it comes down to your hours, your patience and what your site needs to do.
When Wix is the right call
Building it yourself makes sense if you have time and like design decisions. You pay the builder plan and nothing else. You can change a sentence at midnight without asking anyone. For a hobby project or a one-page placeholder, that freedom is hard to beat.
It also works well if your needs are very small, such as a single page with your name, a photo and a way to get in touch, and you already know what you want to say.
Be honest about these four things
- ✓Your hours — writing and photo choices take longer than people expect
- ✓Your eye for layout — spacing and hierarchy are skills
- ✓Your patience for settings — forms, domains and mobile checks add up
- ✓Your upkeep appetite — updates and fixes become your job
When done-for-you earns its price
A done-for-you package shifts the writing, design and testing onto someone else. You answer questions, review and approve. The launch plan is $399 for up to 5 pages, with copy written for you, a contact form, mobile-friendly design and ten rounds of revisions.
Website Care at $30/month covers hosting, HTTPS, backups, uptime checks, weekly performance checks and up to 30 minutes of small edits per month, which is the part many self-builders skip until something breaks.
Costs to compare side by side
- ✓Builder plan fees — monthly or yearly, charged by the platform
- ✓Your time — count the hours you spend, and what they are worth
- ✓Add-ons — booking, store or email tools may cost extra on either path
- ✓Ownership — your domain should be yours either way
What to expect, honestly
- ✓Not every site needs a person — a tiny page is fine on a builder
- ✓We do not edit inside Wix — if you want that, stay there
- ✓Third-party tool fees stay with each provider — on either path
One example of what your site could look like
This is one sample we designed. Yours is built around your business, your photos and your words, and we have more examples if you want to compare directions.
What it costs
Websites are priced one-time by size, plus Website Care at $30/month for hosting, HTTPS, backups, weekly checks and A/B testing. Monthly SEO is an optional add-on when you are ready for it.
Optional add-ons, billed separately
The prices above are for your website. These two are separate monthly products you can add now or later. Neither is part of the website price.
