Parents looking for a doula are usually doing it late at night, a few weeks into reading everything they can. They are not shopping for a service so much as looking for a person. What helps is a page that sounds like you, says what you do, and offers a no-pressure way to meet. A consultation booking is just that.
The interview is the main booking
Most families want to talk before deciding. Offer a free or short consultation as a bookable slot, in person or by video, and say how long it lasts. Mention that it is a chance for both of you to see whether the fit is right, which takes the pressure off.
Ask for a due date in the booking form. It tells you right away whether you are available, and it saves a round of messages. If you are fully booked for that month, say so on the page so families are not left waiting.
What to include on the form
- ✓Due date — the single most useful field for you
- ✓Number of children — whether this is a first birth or not
- ✓Birth location — hospital, birth center or home
- ✓Anything you want to share — a short, optional note
Packages explained gently
Describe what each package includes in plain terms: prenatal visits, support during labor, postpartum follow-up. Avoid long clinical lists. Parents decide on warmth and clarity, so each package gets a short paragraph about what it feels like to have that support.
Whether you work alone or with a backup doula is something families ask about. A sentence on how backup works lets them relax.
What we set up
- ✓Consultation booking — on a calendar, or as a request form
- ✓Package pages — written in your own voice
- ✓About page — your story, training and approach
- ✓Photos — natural, warm, nothing staged
When parents look
Births happen year-round, but families usually begin searching in the second trimester. Showing the months you still have openings keeps the first message focused and kind.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not give medical advice — the site describes your support, not clinical guidance
- ✓Availability is your decision — we place your open months, we do not decide them
- ✓Provider fees are separate — payment and booking tools charge their own rates
