If your customers are businesses, they often need a quote, a minimum order or a spec check before buying. A shopping cart does not fit that. A catalog that shows what you carry and lets them ask about it does. Think of it as the printed catalog you hand a buyer at a trade counter, except it is always current, searchable and one tap from a request.
How a catalog without checkout works
Each product gets its own page with photos, a description, specs and a request-a-quote button. The button opens a form with the product already named, so you know what they are asking about. Products are grouped into categories that make sense to a buyer, not just to you.
There is no cart, no payment and no stock counter. The sale happens through your normal process: a call, a quote, an invoice.
What each product page includes
- ✓Clear photos — front, detail and in-use views
- ✓Specifications — sizes, materials, part numbers
- ✓Typical use — who buys it and why
- ✓Ordering notes — minimums, lead times, packaging
- ✓An inquiry button — pre-filled with the product name
What we do not connect
We do not sync your catalog with an ERP, accounting package or inventory system. The catalog is a set of pages we build and maintain with you. When you add a product or change a spec, send us the update, or use the monthly edit time that comes with Website Care.
If you later want a cart, the catalog structure carries over. You would add a checkout tool you choose, and we can discuss it then.
What to gather
- ✓Your product list — a spreadsheet is ideal
- ✓Photos for each item — consistent backgrounds help
- ✓Specs and sizes — the details buyers ask about
- ✓Your quoting process — who replies and how fast
What to expect, honestly
- ✓No checkout or cart — buyers submit inquiries
- ✓No ERP or inventory sync — updates are manual
- ✓We do not write specs — you confirm accuracy
