Anyone who prices work knows the first call is mostly questions: where, how big, when, what kind. A quote request form moves those questions to the front. The customer answers them once, and you open the message already knowing whether the job fits.
Decide your fields before you build the form
Every extra field costs you a few visitors, and every missing field costs you a callback. The balance is the fewest questions that still let you give a ballpark. For a landscaper that might be the address, the size of the yard and the kind of work. For a mover it is the date and the two zip codes.
Mark only the fields you truly need as required. Name, a way to reach them and a short description of the job is usually enough. Everything else can be optional or a drop-down.
A good starting set of fields
- ✓Name and best contact — a number or email, whichever they prefer
- ✓Service needed — a drop-down of the jobs you actually do
- ✓Location — a zip code or city so you can tell if it is in your area
- ✓Preferred timing — a rough window rather than an exact date
- ✓Details — one free text box for anything else
Where the message goes and how spam is handled
Each submission is sent to the business inbox you choose, and the visitor sees a plain confirmation so they know it went through. We add spam filtering to the form so your inbox is not filled with junk, and we test it with real submissions before launch.
By default the form does not ask for sensitive details such as full birth dates, account numbers or government IDs. A quote does not need them, and the less you collect, the less you have to protect.
What to bring to us
- ✓Your service list — so the drop-down matches what you offer
- ✓The inbox for requests — and whether a second person should be copied
- ✓Your usual turnaround — so the confirmation text sets a fair expectation
- ✓Questions you always ask — the ones that eat your first call
What to expect, honestly
- ✓A form is not a pricing calculator — it collects details, you still write the quote
- ✓We do not store requests in a database you log into — they arrive by email
- ✓We avoid sensitive data — ask us first if your trade truly requires it
