Picture a customer at a red light on a Saturday morning, wondering whether your stand has sweet corn yet and whether it is worth the drive. If your page answers both questions in one scroll and lets them reserve a dozen ears, you have a sale before the light turns green. If it shows a photo from last August and a Facebook link, you do not.
Start with the ripe list, not the cart
Most farm stand visitors are not shopping a catalog. They want to know what is picked today, what is coming next week and whether you will run out. We build a short "ripe now" block on the home page that you can change in a minute, and an ordering button right under it that opens the ordering tool you already pay for.
That tool might be a simple order form, a farm sales platform or the online store from your register system. We link or embed it and make sure the button is easy to find on a small screen held in one hand, which is how most people will use it standing in a field.
What your ordering page should answer
- ✓Pickup window — the days and hours orders will be ready, in plain words
- ✓Order cutoff — the evening before, or noon the same day, whatever you can actually meet
- ✓Unit and size — pints, quarts, pounds or a bushel, so nobody guesses
- ✓Substitutions — what happens when the strawberries run short
- ✓Where to park and pick up — the gate, the shed or the table by the barn
Handling the part nobody plans for
Orders placed online do not automatically update the counter at the stand. If you sell the last flat of tomatoes in person at ten, the website will not know unless you or your ordering tool updates it. We set up the page so a sold-out note is a one-line edit, and we talk through a simple routine with you, such as checking the list at opening and again at lunch.
Weather also changes things. A frost or a flooded field means a short note on the home page, and we make that a banner you can switch on, not a redesign.
What to gather before we start
- ✓A list of what you grow — with rough months for each
- ✓Your pickup rules — days, windows and cutoff times
- ✓Photos of the stand and the gate — so strangers can spot it from the road
- ✓Your current ordering link — or tell us you need help choosing one
- ✓Any boxes or standing orders — so they get their own short page
What to expect, honestly
- ✓Inventory does not sync on its own — you or your ordering tool update what is available
- ✓Payment fees belong to the processor — we do not set or take them
- ✓We link to the tool you pick — we do not run a delivery route for you
