Web designers talk in pages and features. You think in recurring clients, service routes and the quote requests that fill a Tuesday. Bring the list below to any call, ours included, and write down the answers. A good designer will be glad you asked; a vague answer is itself information.
Start with the questions about what you get
Ask for the page list in writing. For a cleaning company that usually means a home page, a residential page, a commercial page, a service areas page, an about page and a quote request page. If a plan says "up to five pages", ask which five and whether the quote form counts as one.
Then ask who writes the words. Many cleaning sites end up with generic copy because the owner was handed a blank template. Ask whether the designer writes service descriptions from your answers, and whether you review them before anything goes live.
Questions about the quote form and service area
- ✓What questions will the form ask? — you want property type, size, frequency and timing, not just name and message
- ✓Where do requests go? — to your own inbox, with a copy you can find, not a shared address you cannot see
- ✓How will service areas be shown? — a plain list of towns and neighborhoods tells visitors and search engines more than a map pin
- ✓Can I change a field later? — seasonal specials or a new service should not need a new project
Questions about ownership, cost and change
Ask who owns the domain name and who is listed as the registrant. It should be you. Ask what happens to the site if you stop paying the monthly fee, and whether you can take your wording and photos with you.
Ask exactly what the monthly fee covers: hosting, backups, security, uptime checks and how many small edits per month. With Website Care at $30/month that is managed hosting, HTTPS, backups, uptime checks, weekly performance checks, A/B testing and up to 30 minutes of small edits. Whatever a designer quotes, get the equivalent list.
Questions about timing and revisions
Ask how long a typical build takes, what you must supply to hit that, and how many rounds of changes are included. We include 10 revision rounds. A cleaning company that can send its service list, a few photos and its areas on day one can sometimes launch in as little as 48 hours; a designer who cannot name the dependencies is guessing.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not run your scheduling — the site collects requests, your own tools handle routes
- ✓Photo quality depends on what you send — we can advise but not stage jobs
- ✓No ranking promises — monthly SEO is optional and never a guarantee of position
