A chamber of commerce has an unusual audience problem: its members are the audience and the product. A local owner decides to join when the site shows that events happen, that businesses are listed and that other owners seem to be getting something. If the site feels quiet, they conclude the chamber is quiet.
The calendar is your best proof
A visible calendar of upcoming mixers, ribbon cuttings, lunches and annual dinners says that the chamber is alive. Each event needs date, time, place, price for members and non-members and a registration button. We link the ticketing tool you already use, and keep the calendar updated as a simple list.
Past events help too. A short archive with a photo and a line shows newcomers what to expect without a hard sell.
What each event listing shows
- ✓Member and guest price — so non-members see the value of joining
- ✓Registration deadline — and whether walk-ins are welcome
- ✓Host or sponsor — the business hosting the event
- ✓Format — breakfast, mixer or seminar, with the agenda
- ✓Parking and access — stated for the specific venue
Directory and benefits
A member directory, organized by category, gives every member something to point to. Each listing carries a name, a short description, a link and contact details the member has approved. Keep it simple and let members update their own listing through a short form.
A "why join" page should list what a member actually receives: event access, directory placement, referrals, advocacy or discounts. Write only what you provide, and describe the membership levels in your own words.
Pages to build
- ✓Events — calendar with registration
- ✓Directory — categories and member listings
- ✓Join — levels, benefits and a form
- ✓Sponsors — opportunities and a contact route
- ✓About — staff, board and community
What to expect, honestly
- ✓Membership billing is handled in your own tool — we link it
- ✓Directory data comes from members — someone has to review it
- ✓Ticketing fees belong to the provider — not to us
